Custom Restaurant and Bar Furniture in Bangalore: Recent Hospitality Projects by Beyond Studio

A restaurant or bar lives or dies by atmosphere, and atmosphere is built largely from furniture, lighting and finish. Hospitality furniture also works harder than any other kind, every single night.

Beyond Studio designs and makes furniture for Bangalore's restaurants and bars. Here is a look at recent hospitality work and what it shows about how we approach it.

Noba, North Bengaluru: A Cocktail Bar

For Noba, a one-of-a-kind cocktail bar in North Bengaluru, Beyond crafted the complete furniture and lighting ensemble, creating pieces that add character, warmth and a distinctive rhythm to the space.

  • Furniture and lighting designed together, as one ensemble.
  • Bespoke pieces made for the space, rather than chosen from a catalogue.

Masala Martini, BEL Road: From Demolition to the Final Detail

At Masala Martini, Beyond took an old space and transformed it from demolition to the final detail, bringing together civil works, lighting, flooring, bespoke furniture, décor and artefacts to create a vibrant space layered with character, colour and energy.

Punjab Bistro, Marathahalli: Stripped Back, Then Rebuilt

For Punjab Bistro on the Outer Ring Road, Beyond shaped the transformation of an old space stripped back to its bones, from the first wall that came down to the final detail, creating a setting where warmth, character and celebration come together around the table.

Sora Kessaku Dining House: An Intimate Dining Room

The Sora Kessaku Dining House is a twelve-table dining room built for evening service, with low brass pendant fixtures, charred-oak wall panelling and banquette seating upholstered in a heavyweight wool to keep the room quiet even when full. The joinery was designed to be repaired in place, panel by panel, rather than replaced.

What These Projects Have in Common

  • One team from design through making and installation, so furniture, lighting and finishes agree with each other.
  • Furniture built for heavy daily use, with repair in mind.
  • Materials and details chosen for how the room looks and feels in the evening, not only in daylight.
  • Scope that ranges from furniture alone to full transformations.

Questions to Ask Before Furnishing a Restaurant or Bar

  • Who designs and who makes? Is it the same team?
  • How will the pieces cope with a full house every night?
  • Can panels, upholstery and finishes be repaired or replaced individually?
  • How does the finish look under the room's actual lighting?
  • What happens at installation, and how are opening dates protected?
